Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said today that the social network has "made a bunch of mistakes," but he's not the only one screwing up online. Nearly one third of people on Facebook say they've posted something they regret, according to a new study by Retrevo.
As more and more users vow to leave Facebook because of the privacy settings, Retrevo's study gives us insight into why exactly consumers are deleting their accounts. Of the 32 percent who've regretted a status update, 3 percent say it ruined their marriage or relationship, while 6 percent said it caused problems at work or home.
So we know that folks are embarrassing themselves in front of friends, but what about the flip side -- has anyone on Facebook ever regretted calling a brand out? We know that social media is a great way to turn angry consumers into brand advocates, but does anyone out there know of any studies that examine whether consumers regret brand interactions online?
